NCCER CORE CONSTRUCTION

Core Construction Training Overview
Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) provides training for entry level construction laborers to assist with the high demand in the construction industry today. Completion of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Core Curriculum results in an industry-recognized credential through NCCER. Completion of the Core Curriculum assists in the development of entry level skills and knowledge that can support attainment of work in the construction industry. Construction Trades, General A program that generally prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills in the building, inspecting, and maintaining of structures and related properties. May include instruction in masonry, carpentry, electrical and power transmission installation, building/construction finishing, management, inspection, and other construction-related applications.

NCCER CARPENTRY

Carpentry Training Overview
Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) provides training in carpentry. NCCER’s curriculum in carpentry teaches apprentices to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. This four-level curriculum covers content such as building materials, cabinet fabrication and advanced wall systems to successfully work in a variety of construction activities Carpentry/Carpenter program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out, cut, fabricate, erect, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures, using hand and power tools. Includes instruction in technical mathematics, framing, construction materials and selection, job estimating, blueprint reading, foundations and roughing-in, finish carpentry techniques, and applicable codes and standards.

NCCER ELECTRICAL

Electrical Training Overview

Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) provides training in Electrical. NCCER’s comprehensive, four-level electrical curriculum helps apprentices prepare for a career in the electrical field. Apprentices develop an understanding of electrical systems in structures, follow blueprints and install wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures. Electrician A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to install, operate, maintain, and repair electric apparatus and systems such as residential, commercial, and industrial electric-power wiring; and DC and AC motors, controls, and electrical distribution panels. Includes instruction in the principles of electronics and electrical systems, wiring, power transmission, safety, industrial and household appliances, job estimation, electrical testing and inspection, and applicable codes and standards.

NCCER HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC)

HVAC Training Overview
Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) provides training in HVAC. NCCER’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning curriculum was designed to present both theoretical and practical skills to trainees. The four-level curriculum is recognized by the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) and helps ensure success as a HVAC installer or technician. Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Maintenance Technology/Technician program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, install, service and maintain the operating condition of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Includes instruction in diagnostic techniques, the use of testing equipment and the principles of mechanics, electricity, and electronics as they relate to the repair of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

NCCER MASONRY

Masonry Training Program Overview
Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) provides training in Masonry. NCCER’s three-level curriculum in Masonry teaches apprentices one of the world’s oldest and most respected crafts. This curriculum encompasses modules such as mortar, metalwork in masonry and estimating. Mason/Masonry program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills in the laying and/or setting of exterior brick, concrete block, hard tile, marble and related materials, using trowels, levels, hammers, chisels, and other hand tools. Includes instruction in technical mathematics, blueprint reading, structural masonry, decorative masonry, foundations, reinforcement, mortar preparation, cutting and finishing, and applicable codes and standards.

NCCER PAINTING

Painting Training Overview
Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) provides training in Painting. NCCER’s three-level curriculum in painting covers topics such as basic surface preparation, wood finishing and texturing, providing numerous career paths for professional growth in the painting industry. Painting A program that prepares individuals creatively and technically to express emotions, ideas, or inner visions by the application of paints and related chemical color substances to canvases or other materials. Includes instruction in color and color mixing, surface preparation, composition, oil and acrylic media, watercolor media, painting techniques, and personal style development.

NCCER PLUMBING

Plumbing Training Overview

Minority Contractors Collaboration (MCC) has been approved to provide certified training in the field of plumbing. NCCER’s four-level curriculum in plumbing helps apprentices develop the skills to install, maintain and repair many different types of pipe systems. The curriculum covers topics such as plumbing tools, types of valves and potable water treatment. Plumbing Technology/Plumber program prepares individuals to practice as licensed plumbers by applying technical knowledge and skills to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain piping fixtures and systems for steam, natural gas, oil, hot water, heating, cooling, drainage, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems in home and business environments. Includes instruction in source determination, water distribution, wastewater removal, pressure adjustment, basic physics, technical mathematics, blueprint reading, pipe installation, pumps, welding and soldering, plumbing inspection, and applicable codes and standards.
